Engagement
(from www.illogicalstrategy.com)
It started as a covert op. Only 4 people, including the groom-to-be, knew of the plan. Even the day of the trip to Denver, no one knew. We pick up Mr. Thompson at 5:15am and our drivers (my parents) still have no idea why we're getting him (but I'm sure they were close by this point). We make the drive to the airport and the excitement is already building. It's Loren, myself, and the dude with the ring. It was all I could do to keep him out of the TwitPics.
We arrive in Denver at 8. Our ride thought there was supposed to be 2 of us and so another had to be informed of the plan. Daniel and I had a meeting with a few guys very instrumental in our church launch so Loren had to kill time. If you know Loren, you can imagine how hard it was for her not to spill it.
She had to kill 4 hours knowing a nice diamond was about to find a home. Killer! They got their nails done, looked at wedding dresses, discussed wedding plans. The whole time Kaysey has NO CLUE! This wasn't supposed to happen for another year at least. Oh well, done been did now.
Time's here. Daniel and I trek 15 blocks to an amazing place that overlooks the northern side of downtown. The weather is perfect - no clouds, 70 degrees, sunny - perfect! Loren and Kaysey hop a free Mall Ride bus to meet me. I had the lunch meeting so it was no concern for Kaysey that we had to meet back up. We see the girls from a 1/4 mile down the road. We're on the scene. As they get closer, we can see them but they have no idea about us. I take my place as the photographer behind the scenes. Daniel goes to his knee for a, no doubt, heart pounding 3 minutes while they made their way up the 25 steps.
She finally breaks the plain of the top step and there he is - one knee, a small white box, and a smile. {again, no one knew he was even in Denver, much less proposing} She goes into an all-out sprint.
She's clueless about the ring. It's all about the man. What do we do now? After the hug he has to settle her down enough to get to the good stuff.
He asks. The so does she, "Are you serious? Are you serious?" YES, he's serious.
SHE SAID YES!!!
Well it's not over yet. This secret's got to be broke! Break out the phones and make Sprint earn their money. Calls to moms, dads, the DC team, and others. It's on now. Wedding planning in full swing!
Beautiful ring, beautiful plan, beautiful couple.
I couldn't be happier for them and proud to be a friend. I'm honored to have been a part of this moment in their lives. Congratulate them! Encourage
them! Pray for them!
CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL AND KAYSEY - the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Thompson.
